Holy cow! Don’t try selling your products on eBay, that’s entirely the wrong way of going about it. The idea is to create an identity, a brand, and in my opinion, eBay is one of the best ways to actually erode your image. Most of eBay is about cheapskates (myself included) going after something they need and trying to get the cheapest price for it. If you’re starting small, then you need to first build a good reputation by selling to friends and family, co-workers and casual acquaintances. Let your good work speak for itself- you can build a really strong word of mouth referral system to generate sales. Yes, start a blog that you can send potential customers to so they can look at your work, but don’t devalue your art (it is art, by the way) by selling to the lowest common denominator. Visit street vendors and small boutiques, check out the competition, see what people are selling their products for and position yourself accordingly. As for a “site” to manage the money- why not have a friend who is good with spreadsheets design a simple table for you to track your expenses and income, this could be done in trade if you know the right person. If your beginning capital is $60, then your inventory might have a retail value of (lets hope for) $300-$600? That should be easy enough to keep track of until you get bigger. At that point, Quickbooks is great software and relatively cheap to buy and use.
