Right now I’m not sure what I want to do, and I know you can do almost anything with a business degree. But what other benefits are there?

Meeting fellow business-minded people.
The number of contacts which business students at Yale and Harvard leave school with is fairly amazing.
At the end of the day, business is a bit of a grifty occupation – the importance of socializing and meeting with other businesspeople in a low-pressure atmosphere cannot be overemphasized.

I am a accounting/business major and while I agree that there are a lot of opportunities with a business degree I dont advise you to pursue it simply because you can do anything with it. You should do something that you will enjoy. For example, lets say you undertake accounting b/c there are a lot of opportunities. If you dont like it, you wont perform well.
There are a lot of majors which are in demand, nursing, enginerering, etc.
My advice is to do something you like. If you like science, be a undeclared science major and study different disciplines. If you like business, go in as undeclared and study different areas. Great thing about college is you can experiment (I dont mean drugs).

I am a marketing major, and I will graduate this coming May. I can tell you from personal experience why majoring in business is a good idea. With a business degree, you can work in any field because the processes you learn in business apply in every field and are practical and useful in every day life. For example, taking classes in accounting and finance have made me better at keeping track of my personal finances. I have learned through marketing and business law about how companies try to fool you and rob you of as much money as possible. I have learned about how the economy works and how to write a business plan so that I may one day be an entrepreneur. The possibilities are endless.
I still don’t know what I want to do with my life as far as my career is concerned. I’m keeping an open mind. But business is interesting and there’s something for everyone. As far as the types of jobs are concerned, you can get a job in any industry you want as long as you network and take advantage of as many “extra” opportunities in college as you can. I would also recommend finding an internship with a company/industry you’re interested in and look for lots of ways to build your resume. I did an internship this past summer in Nashville, TN at a record company in their marketing department. There are lots of fun and unique opportunities in business.
